City climbs the rankings in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025

The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 has ranked City as the 49^th best university in the UK and 8^th in London.

Our improved performance on the Student Experience metric, moving up 78 places, is a key contributing factor to our progress in the overall ranking.

City, University of London has formally merged with St George’s, University of London, creating City St George’s, University of London, a powerful multi-faculty institution with a distinctive focus on professional education and research at the frontier of practice. League tables will list City and St George’s separately until spring next year when UCAS begins listing the combined University as a single institution.

St George's, University of London increased its position in this year’s ranking by 10 places to 69^th in the UK and 12^th in London. St George’s was also named runner up in the Specialist University of the Year 2025 category of the Guide’s Awards.

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 provides detailed online profiles for 134 universities covering research reputation to campus facilities, scholarships and bursaries, and nightlife. The ranking is based on recent data and evaluates factors including satisfaction with teaching quality and the student experience through to degree completion rates and graduate employment prospects.

Both City and St George’s have also increased their ranking in the other league tables released to mark the start of the new academic year – the Guardian University Guide 2025 and the Daily Mail University Guide 2025.
