Halls of residence accommodation is available for full-time undergraduate students, starting their first year of study at City.
As a first-year undergraduate student, you will have the chance to apply for accommodation once you've received an offer for a full time course at City and have firmly accepted that offer.
If you have selected City as your Insurance choice you cannot apply for accommodation.
You'll then be sent an email with a link to the application form. If you do not receive the email link after accepting your course offer, you should contact City's accommodation team.

You can list your preferences on the application form. We aim to give you your first choice where possible, but this can't always be guaranteed.
Guarantee scheme
First year undergraduates will be guaranteed a place in University accommodation if they meet the below criteria:
- You must firmly accept (via UCAS) a conditional or unconditional full-time course offer before 30 June 2024
- Your permanent home address must be outside Greater London travel zones 1-6
- Submit your accommodation application by the 30 June 2024 deadline
- Spaces for under 18-year-old students are limited. Applicants must reach age 18 by 31 December to be considered for accommodation.
If you live within Greater London travel zones 1-6, your accommodation won't be guaranteed. You are still welcome to apply via the automated application process.
However, we will only consider your application once we have assessed all the applicants who live outside of London. Priority will be given to those who live the furthest out.
If you live in zones 1-6 and have extenuating circumstances, please include this on your application form under the 'comment section’.
Spaces for under 18-year-old students are limited. Applicants must reach age 18 by 31 December to be considered for accommodation.
If you have a disability or medical condition please ensure you register with the Student Health & Wellbeing team once you have submitted your application.
Please note that we cannot guarantee accommodation to late applicants, including students who apply through Clearing.
Urdang students
Urdang students are eligible to apply to stay at any UG halls commencing from 21 September 2024. If you require early arrival, you will need to make this request directly with the hall you have been nominated.
City, University of London Accommodation Team do not handle early arrival reservations and cannot assist with any availability enquiries or pricing related questions.
Special rent charges will apply, and all early arrival reservation is subject to availability.
Foundation students
If you'll be studying a foundation course, you can choose to stay in halls of residence either during your foundation year or during your first year.
- If you choose to stay in halls during your foundation year, you will not be eligible for halls during your first year.
- If you choose to stay in halls during your first year, you will not receive the automated accommodation application form again during your foundation year – you will need to contact our office to ensure the form is sent to you.
Students on foundation courses with Kaplan or INTO are not eligible for City's halls of residence during their foundation studies, but can apply when you progress to a full-time undergraduate degree at City.
Unique personal circumstances
If you have a medical condition or disability which affects your accommodation requirements, you should complete the relevant section on the accommodation application form.
You will also need to contact our Learning Success team with more information about your condition so that a Disability Co-ordinator can look into this.
We will treat with confidentiality any information you provide; you would need to confirm if you consent to share the information, if we are to discuss your needs with our relevant partners (such as hall managers) if necessary.
Students under 18 years of age can be housed in any undergraduate hall. However certain criteria apply and halls management will review each student on a case-by-case basis. Availability for students under 18 is limited in each halls.
Terms and conditions
Our halls are all delivered by private providers who have their own terms and conditions.
It is important to make sure you read and understand the contract before booking a room with one of our private housing partners.
Once you have made a room booking your reservation will remain active unless cancelled within the cancellation terms & conditions set out by the provider.
