Bayes’ finance and accounting degrees are amongst the best in the UK, the latest Times Good University Guide has confirmed.

The programmes rose from 12th to 5th in the newspaper’s annual rankings of UK universities. The score covers our BSc programmes for Accounting & Finance, for Finance, for Banking & International Finance, and for Investment & Financial Risk Management.

Professor Nick Motson, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programmes, said: “This result reflects the hard work of the course directors, the teaching team, the professional staff who support our students and, of course, the hard work and enthusiasm of the students themselves.

“Our high score on the indicator around graduates’ job prospects underlines that City St George’s truly is the University of the Professions. Nowhere is that more true than in the accounting and finance clusters where we capitalise on our location bordering both the City of London and London’s Tech City.”

The Times also gave high marks to the quality of research undertaken by academics teaching on the programmes. Their research work ranked second in the UK.

The latest recognition comes weeks after the same courses secured excellent scores in the National Student Survey rankings.

Dr Valeriya Vitkova, Course Director for the Accounting and Finance BSc, said: “This outcome is the result of the significant joint efforts of module leaders, tutors and the course office team members who have worked so hard to improve the student experience."

Students and alumni should take a bow

“It also reflects well on the dedication and effort of our students and the willingness of our alumni to engage with Bayes while carving out successful careers," she said.

Dr Malvina Marchese, Course Director for the Finance Cluster programmes, including the BSc Finance, BSc Banking and international Finance, and BSc Investment and Financial Risk Management, said: “Since 2020 the finance programmes have undergone major changes to put the student experience at the heart of each course.

"This ranking reflects the value that students place on both our teaching and the wider opportunities open to them at Bayes - such as our collaboration with leading sector employers, alumni presentations, and clubs and societies related to their subjects.”

Associate Professor Martin Rich, who completed his term as Associate Dean in the summer, said: “It is perhaps significant that we scored particularly well on the ‘student experience’ indicator and that could reflect the engaging and insightful collaborations with employers that students on these programmes are able to benefit from.”
