The academic year is in its infancy, but no fewer than 750 Bayes Business School students met key representatives from leading employers at the annual MSc Careers Fair last week.

By holding the event at the start of the academic year, MSc students have the opportunity to gain insights into different industries, organisations and job roles on offer ahead of some recruitment deadlines that fall during autumn.

Nearly 70 employers gathered with students at a Bishopsgate venue in the heart of the City, representing a diverse range of sectors from consultancy and professional services to investment management, shipping, energy, and real estate.

Students had the chance to make a strong impression and ask recruiters questions about their firms and the available opportunities.

Annabelle Steendijk, Category Management Graduate at Henkel and MSc International Business alumni of Bayes, said:

"The careers fair was a pivotal moment in my career journey. I attended the fair last year and visited Henkel’s stand, where I connected with their recruitment team. When I later applied, they remembered me from the fair, which helped build a personal connection during the interview process.

“The subsequent support from the Careers Team was invaluable, they guided me through mock interviews and CV reviews, helping me secure my current role, which has exceeded my expectations so far. My advice to future students: come prepared to network at the fair and take full advantage of the Careers offering—it’s a game-changer."

Bayes’ location bordering both the Square Mile and Tech City means students can engage with some of the UK’s most respected and innovative companies.

Sarah Juillet, Director of Postgraduate Careers & Professional Development at Bayes, said:

“The Bayes MSc Careers Fair is a premier event. As part of our comprehensive postgraduate careers induction, students will have participated in a professional networking workshop and a career fair preparation session, ensuring they are fully equipped to engage with high-profile and sector-leading employers.

“We’re determined to equip our students with the knowledge, skills and insights they need to carve out successful, rewarding careers. However, students also need the chance to interact with people from the organisations they hope to be working for in just a few months.

"It’s also an excellent opportunity for companies and their recruitment teams to showcase their organisation and build brand awareness among our diverse student community."

Sally Jones, Recruitment Senior at Grant Thornton added:

"Attending the Bayes Careers Fair has been invaluable for us at Grant Thornton. We've successfully employed Bayes students, who come prepared with insightful questions and a genuine interest.

“The fair allows us to engage directly with potential candidates, showcase our culture, and communicate the unique career paths available at our firm. It’s a fantastic way to connect with talented individuals and plant the seeds for future recruitment."

Dr Simone Krummaker, Associate Dean of Bayes' MSc Programmes, concluded:

“The careers fair ensures our students have the knowledge to make informed decisions as they consider their career options.

"There was a real buzz in the room today and it was great to see the energy and connections being made."

This flagship event, organised by the MSc Careers Team, takes months of preparation to ensure our students can engage with these organisations, which often has a significant impact on their future careers."
