To mark this year's Black History Month, SCC will be hosting a special open mic event to celebrate and showcase our talented students of Black heritage.
The national theme of Black History Month this year is “Reclaiming Narratives,” shining a brighter light on our stories, allegories, and history. The theme is about telling untold stories, taking control of our narrative, and honouring the contributions of Black individuals in the UK and globally.
To align with this theme, our open mic night will invite students of Black heritage to share their own perspective through their unique creative expression. The evening will be curated by SCC's Creative in Residence, Priscilla Krahn, who is a playwright, producer and director passionate about storytelling, often inspired by Black British living and the diaspora.

We are looking for actors, poets, spoken word artists, dancers, singers, musicians and wider creative artists to take the stage and share their art, stories and talent.
We have a select number of performance slots to fill for the night. If you're interested in taking part (even the slightest bit of interest!), please do register so Priscilla can be in touch. Taking part will be a chance to share your gift and connect with fellow creatives on campus.
Save the date and invite your friends along!
