Russian Lower Intermediate Part 3 Course overview
In part 3, the third and final part of the course, you will consolidate your learning as well as cover new scenarios and more complex grammar topics.
You will be taught how to hold conversations about your daily routines and going out, and additional vocabulary for shopping. You’ll also be introduced to Russian literature. Grammar topics include ordinal numbers and comparative adjectives and adverbs.
You will also explore Russian culture, economics and politics through newspapers, audio and video.
This is the final part of lower intermediate syllabus, working towards CEFR A2 level.

This course takes place one evening a week at 18:30 for 10 weeks.

What will I learn?
This course is designed to make you more confident speaking, listening, reading and writing Russian in a wider array of scenarios, and extend your knowledge of more complicated grammar.
By the end of this course you will be able to
- talk about daily routines
- discuss plans for going out
- increase your vocabulary for a range of shopping scenarios
- read some Russian literature.

- conjunction to join two sentences
- numbers in the genitive case.
Assessment and certificates
You will be awarded an official City, University of London certificate on completion of the course if you attend over 70 per cent of the classes. The course is not formally accredited.

Any assessment will be informal to help you evaluate your own progress.
Teaching
We use role playing real-world scenarios and incorporate games and activities into learning. Class discussion and the use of newspapers and audio or visual aids allow you to explore Russian cultural affairs, creating a topical and motivating learning environment.
Eligibility
Part 3 is ideal if you have either:
- completed part 2 of the Russian lower intermediate syllabus
- studied formally for approximately 100 hours
- are confidently communicating at CEFR A1 level of Russian.
You should already know:
- how to talk about the weather
- how to discuss your family relationships
- how to talk about illnesses and the hospital
- plural noun and pronoun endings
- the future of “to be”
- imperfective and perfective.
English requirements
You will need a good level of spoken and written English to enrol on this course.
