Italian Beginners Part 3 Course overview
In this module, you will learn how to describe past events, talk about your daily routine and buy clothes. You’ll advance your understanding of Italian grammar, using both reflexive verbs and past tense in your communication.
Taught in small groups and led by a qualified native speaker, these classes include a wide range of unique and interactive learning techniques including videos, group activities and games.
This is the final beginners module. Once you have completed part 3, you’ll have reached the CEFR A1 of the Common European Framework Reference of language learning (CEFR).
Who is it for?
This course is the perfect next step after completing part 2 of the beginners syllabus or equivalent (about 40 hours of formal learning).

Timetable
This course takes place one evening a week at 18:30 for 10 weeks.

Assessment and certificates
You will be awarded an official City, University of London certificate on completion of the course if you attend over 70 per cent of the classes. The course is not formally accredited.
Assessment
Informal assessment in class will help you evaluate your progress.
Teaching
Classroom activities during this evening course will include:
- pair, group work and role-play
- classroom discussion
- pronunciation and intonation
- grammar in context.
Weekly homework will help you practise what you have learned in class.
Eligibility
You’ll need some basic Italian knowledge to join this course (approximately 40 hours of prior formal learning).
This course is the right level for you if you can:
- order food in a bar or restaurant
- buy a ticket and arrange a meeting
- describe a person and their personality
- understand a little about prepositions and indefinite articles.
If you have studied for over 60 hours, you may want to enrol on one of our Italian Lower Intermediate courses.
English requirements
You will need a good level of spoken and written English to enrol on this course.

Veronica De Felice
Veronica De Felice has a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (2009), a Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults (Goldsmiths, 2006) and a BA in Foreign Languages (Napoli, 2002).
She has been teaching Italian and translation in various institutions such as Goldsmiths College, the University of the Arts, Croydon College and various language schools in London.

Gabriella Di Folco
Gabriella has been working as an Italian lecturer and a language examiner in various institutions, including Brunel University, SOAS and Goldsmith's University.
She hold’s a MA in Applied Language Studies from Westminster University and a PGCE from the Institute of Education. Gabriella has studied Art History and has a keen interest in cultural studies. She researches and designs courses for specific purposes while using a variety of innovative and creative teaching methods.
Gabriella is Italo-French by birth but, after learning several languages and experiencing different cultures, she considers herself to be a ‘world citizen’ by choice.
