About
Overview
Nikki is City Law School's Associate Dean for Partnerships, and an Associate Professor.
She directs the CLS Death Penalty Research Clinic, and teaches student barristers on the Bar Course (BVS).
Prior to joining City, Nikki qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales, and practised criminal law in both UK and international settings. Domestically, she defended at the leading miscarriages of justice law firm, Taylor Nichol, with a caseload including drugs supply, rape, and conspiracy to murder, and specialism in trials involving juveniles. At an international level, she acted as defence legal assistant at war crimes trials at International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia (Limaj) in the Hague and the Special Court in Freetown, Sierra Leone (RUF).
Nikki has substantial experience of working globally and in challenging settings, including:
- creating an access to justice programme to empower unlawfully detained prisoners in Malawi;
- co-founding an award-winning UK- South African annual courtroom skills programme, which upskills the next generation of human rights lawyers.
