Overview
Niels Blom is a Research Fellow at the Violence and Society Centre where he focusses on the Crime Survey for England and Wales and the integration of other datasets. He joined the centre in January 2022.
His prior research includes investigating how socioeconomic inequalities are related to family circumstances and wellbeing and diversity in these associations.
His prior research includes investigating how the division of employment between partners and economic hardship are related to the quality of partner relationships. He also studied how partner relationship quality is related to marriage, fertility, and separation. Furthermore, he investigated how the division of labour between partners is related to wage differences.
Prior to joining City University, Niels’ completed his PhD in Sociology at Radboud University in the Netherlands in 2019 and worked as a researcher at the University of Southampton and University of Bath.
