Overview
Dr Maria Kendrick is Senior Lecturer in Law City Law School at City, University of London, Research Fellow of the Centre of European Law, King’s College London and a Member of the Institute for the Study of European Law (ISEL).
She was previously Visiting Lecturer in Public Law and EU Law at the LSE (2017-2020) and Visiting Lecturer in Public Law at the Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London (2015-2018).
She read Law at King's College London and was a Centre of European Law Scholar at King's obtaining her PhD in 2018 along with a lifetime Fellowship.
Dr Kendrick's research profile is in EU and international tax law and EU Law, including integration and differentiated integration. She has submitted expert evidence, being cited when the House of Lords Sub-Committee on the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland wrote to the Foreign Secretary on the Northern Ireland Protocol Bill. She will host a roundtable on Subsidy Control and Levelling up in the House of Lords in July 2023.
Dr Kendrick has been invited to speak on tax and differentiated integration at several conferences, including in the UK, the EU and internationally. Her current research is focusing on repaying the NextGenerationEU debt and tax and the Subsidy Control Act 2022. Recent and forthcoming publications include: NextGenerationEU: Will the Debt be Repaid by EU Own Resources or Member State Taxpayers? European Law Review (2023) 48(1), 29-61; The EU and US Transatlantic Agendas on Taxation in E. Fahey (ed) Routledge Handbook on Transatlantic Relations (forthcoming 2023); and 'How to spend (our) money wisely: the Subsidy Control Act and control of public tax and spend in a post Brexit United Kingdom’ (with Andrea Biondi, forthcoming in 2023) .
She is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Global Trade and Customs Journal and a Reviewer for EUBlog.
Dr Kendrick is the Module Convenor of the LLM International Tax Law module.

Tax and the Subsidy Control Act 2022
17 January 2023 Dr Maria Kendrick contributed to a Roundtable in Parliament with members of the House of Commons and House of Lords and public authority stakeholders on the impact of the new Subsidy Control Act 2022. Dr Kendrick spoke on how taxation is dealt with in the legislative scheme and the potential burdens on public authorities in complying with the Act.
