Research
Research Overview
Dr Stavropoulou is a health services researcher with a background in health economics and policy. In her capacity as the Co-Director of the Centre for Healthcare Innovation Research (CHIR) she does research on the challenges of spreading innovation in healthcare to understand what hinders innovation from reaching out those who benefit from it. She is the Theme Lead, Innovation and implementation science in the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North Thames.
Dr Stavropoulou is also interested in understanding the impact of public funding in supporting the creation and spread of research and innovation in healthcare. She has worked closely with funding bodies and between 2021 and 2022 she was on a part-time secondment at the Medical Research Council (MRC) evaluating the Council’s early career schemes.
Her work has appeared in leading international journals, including The BMJ, The Lancet Public Health, Milbank Quarterly, Social Science and Medicine and Journal of Health Economics among others. She has received funding from different bodies, including The Health Foundation, UKRI, NIHR and The Royal Marsden.
